As a current university
student, who wishes to fulfil a dream that was built up from an unexpected
experience. I have been studying at Western Sydney University, completing a Bachelor
of Policing. The pathway that the degree that I am doing can take me down is
eventually becoming a NSW Police Force (NSWPF), however, there are other
opportunities that can be taken which specialise in the area of policing and
can vary from national intelligence agencies, customs, juvenile justice or even
corrections. These pathways have been addressed throughout my time at university
through the different subjects I have learnt about.
The skill set which I have obtained from my time at university can be seen as
transferable skills which can be used across most professions. I also obtained some
specialised skills which can be used in the field of Policing. The transferable
skills which I have gained can include research skills, essay writing skills,
communication skills, time-management skills and organisational skills. Whereas,
the specialised skills which I obtained, can include investigation skills,
evidence-based skills which can be used in piecing together evidence and
problem-solving skills.
